Dont worry, you will not get made fun of, i promise. Yes, kids in schools here usually do seperate into their own little groups of friends...but most people are friendly. Ive gone to schools in several different parts of the country, and they have all been pretty welcoming to new students from other places. Smaller schools and schools in more rural areas will probably be fascinated by you and everyone will want to be your friend. Bigger schools and schools in the bigger citys will be nice to you also, but probably wont care about where you are from since theres such a large diversity of kids from other countrys that go to them already, youll be just another new kid. Like the person above me said, foreign exchange students make friends SUPER fast, and usually become pretty popular. People will probably like your accent and will ask you a bunch of questions about where you are from and how things are over there. Just remember, people in America are very loud and nosey and have very different humor than people where your from, but are welcoming to newcomers...especially people from around europe. Youll make friends fast. :) .. if you have any more questions just message me.:)

It's true America is fascinated with foreigners, especially Europeans. You will have a great time. I spent a year of Boarding school in the U.S and it was great. But you will just have to get used to "Oh, say this word!" just so they can hear your accent but it made it easier to talk to people. Also the obesity level in Europe is much less then in America. Try not to be too surprised if you see certain...umm... overweight people. I live in Canada now and I think I find it even more welcome then the States (Not being racist or anything and the States was great). You will have a lot of fun.

American schools get really cliquie, but finding friends is never a problem. In America for some reason we are absolutely fascinated with foreigners, so foreign exchange students always end up being really, really popular, your accent helps as well. In America we are set up a little bit different, so you will be a year younger than the other 10th grade (we say Sophomore) students, meaning that they will be driving (most of America starts driving at 15 1/2 with a permit and parent in the car, we get out licenses at 16). But this is still fine as they can drive you around if you ever want to go somewhere. So you have nothing to worry about, everything will be fine.

im 14 and im in 9th grade, so your in 10th grade, not "year 10" so anyways, yes there are little groups but if you just start talking to someone nicely you'll be fine, just try to tak to someone nice. its not like how it looks on tv like when there are the mean kids, and the nerds, and whatnot, everyone is great, and people usually keep to themselves. some small towns have closer crowds, but bigger high schools have mroe people and a wider variety of friends to chose from. not one will hate you, but rather will want to talk to hyou to hear your accent, lol. I've never met an english person good luck, i bet you'll make loads of friends here too
