Are Australian Universities better than the UK Universities?

Why do you think that Australia Universities are better than UK Universities?

  Which two universities? I can choose 4 universities and put them in order of academic standards, as perceived by me (E.g. Oxford University [UK], University of Melbourne [Aus], University of Western Australia, University of Hull[UK]) but the order will never be Australian then British, or British then Australian. There are good and bad universities in both countries and a university that may have a poor reputation in one subject could be strong in another. There are various sites around that will rank the universities of the world in order (although the US sites seem to believe the US universities are best, French sites believe French universities are best and so on). You choice of where to study must also depend on funding and length of course. In New Zealand, for example, a typical student will have to work to fund the course so the courses are designed to be longer than similar UK courses to accommodate this. You also should not choose a university with very high academic standards if, for example, you are expecting average results.
