How can I become an exchange student?
-
I want to be an exchange student. I live in the united states and I'm pretty young (12) and there isn't really a specific reason I want to be an exchange student, but it sounds fun and interesting. I would either want to go to japan or korea or china. But I'm not sure about Korea because Ive heard that its terrible for girls at schools in korea. My mom said that I could and I can ask my dad and he'll probably let me. And if you don't think I should go to korea japan or china then where should I go? I already know that its not very cheap and stuff.

Answer:
I don't know about WEP, but I suggest you check out www.best-student-exchange.com, because they have hundreds of families online who want ot exchange and you can stay in different countries with various families (like family-hopping) and best of all: the price is peanuts compared to usual agencies, because you arrange the exchange yourself and with that you save thousands of $. So I think it is the best program out there. I went to Europe and it rocked!

Look into it? Each school is different and it's a high school program. You have to know the language fluently, too. They're not going to ship you off to go to school in another country if you can't even speak the language to the point where people can understand you.
It depends what kind of exchange program your school has. I wanted to be in one when I was a freshman but my school only offers it for juniors and seniors. Also, I don't know if you would enjoy Japan, as its very crowded and busy. But I guess it depends on your personal opinion. Also, you would need to get a lot of shots before going, because there are a lot of different diseases and illnesses there! :P

I'm an exchange student right now, and the only thing I can tell you, is to find an exchange program and find information there. The people there can help you a lot with your question. I can recommend you YFU (Youth for understanding), it's a really good organisation! It's worth it, being an exchange student is an awesome experience! :)
