Student Ambassador Letter?

What did I do to get a letter about being invited to a People to People student ambassador program?

  • I'm a sophomore in high school and i got a letter saying that i'm invited to travel & study in china next summer(2009) for 17 days. It says that i'm eligible for People to People, a program founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower. what did i do to get this letter, and has anybody done this program before? also how much does is cost roughly? Thanks!!

My daughter just received a similar letter only its for Australia. After doing some research on the company, We decided there is no way she will be going on any trip this company is involved with. Do some research on them with your parents and find out all you can about them. I've seen some very disturbing experiences with them. Now any company is going to have positive and negative things said about them but when it comes to my child's safety I tend to error on the side of caution. I don't want her to have some problem and be on the opposite side of the world. Besides, even if a few of the things I read about this company are true, thats too many. Below are a few of links to start your research and there are many more just Google "people to people". (the first one is the most disturbing one).

i am in 8th grade now but when i was in 6th grade i got invited to go to Canada for 14 days. it was such a great experience you will have so much fun. it costs a lot im not going to lie. id say anywhere from 3,000 and up but it is so worth it. you can have fundraisers to help earn the money. also there should be a meeting you can go to, to see what it is all about if you want to know more go on there website. just google people to people student ambassador programs.

I got that same letter when I was a sophomore in HS two years ago, so did some of my friends. It's sent to students who have good grades, and usually it's cause a teacher recommended you. I didn't go to mine in Switzerland but my friend did it last summer and she had a blast. price is around 4000 to 4500 dollars (last time I checked anyways)
