How do you apply to study abroad?

I want to study abroad in Japan and have no idea how to start. Help? And is it too late to apply now?

  • Well, right now I'm a freshman and I want to study in Japan when I'm a sophomore. I looked at a few foreign exchange programs and was just... awed. And rather overwhelmed. Is it too late to apply for it now? In the ASF website the deadline is March 15, but I don't think I can really make a decision during such a short amount of time. What other programs do you recommend? Also, the monetary issue... How do I fundraise for studying abroad, if I get chosen? Uhh... will add more later! Thank you very much for reading!

  • Answer:

If I where you I'd start looking for scholarships this year so you don't have to pay as much or at all then do it your junior year instead. Also be very cautious over what program you pick as your organization. Get in contact with former/current exchange students of specific programs your looking into to find out what the experience is really like. This kind of thing definitely shouldn't be rushed.
