Which test should i take - ielts or toefl?

  you need the TOEFL and the SAT and possibly the ACT (for southern schools) to study in the US. SAT is no use for any other country, it's an american thing. After you got a good score on the SAT, you need to send that with your high-school grades + other stuff like essays and whatnot to the Univs of your choice. If they accept you, they will give you a form that will allow you to go apply for a student visa. But remember - University is ridiculously expensive in the States. In your country you barely pay anything, in the cheapest univs of USA you have to pay about 10,000 US$ per year. Think about that.
