Are Australian Universities better than the UK Universities?

Which is better to study undergraduate degree, UK universities or US universities? What is the reason?

  • Really need help to decide where to go.. thx..

  • Answer:

It really depends on what you want to do with your degree. Advantages in the UK: 1. If you know you want to study a particular subject you can do just that - most undergrad degrees in the UK are one subject only - not the major/minor liberal arts system. 2. If you want to study medicine or law at undergrad level you can in the UK, and can't in the US. Obviously studying UK law is not going make you elegible to practice in the US though... 3. Fees - depending on what university you want to go to it may be cheaper in the UK vs US, especially now, with the low exchange rate. Check up on these things - don't just assume that abroad is more expensive. 4. Experience. The rest of the world is very different from the US - study in the UK give you experience of a different culture without needing to learn a different language. 5. Immigration advnatages if you intend to immigrate long term. Advantages in the US: 1. More general education at degree level - no need to commit to a single subject of study at the outset 2. If you intend to work in the US, a US degree would avoid having to explain differences in marking system etc. 3. US undergrad degrees seem to be 4 years long. Uk degrees are only 3 years in most cases. 4. You'll be closer to home. If that's an advantage. 5. You may still be able to go on a study abroad program.

Unless you have particular reasons to go to a different country (and it doesn't sound as if you do) it's best to stay in the country where you live - because the fees will be far, far cheaper.

In the UK there are no general education requirements like in the US, so getting your Bachelors takes only three years. But it's expensive!!! There's a lot that you have to do prior to leaving the US such as paperwork, getting a visa, saving up money, etc. In the US, you cut all of that in half. And you can always study abroad in the UK or get your Masters there.
