Semester study abroad program?

Which one is better? A year study abroad program or a semester?

Please list kinda like pros and cons and stuff like that. Either from experience or just opinion... Please help me I'm trying to convince my mom that a year would be soooo much better than a semester but she thinks a semester is sufficient. Any thoughts or opinions welcome!!!

of course the longer the better... based on experience... 1. no one want to accept you when looking for accommodation over a semester only... need at least more than 6 month... 2. you need to get used to your surrounding, the local culture as well as language if necessarry... 3. you might want to experience working part time while studying... its a fun activity... believe me... good luck btw, i need help in completing this survey... can anyone help...? http://app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/sebastian-K/what-motivates-people-to-attend-mardi-gras/
