How hard is it to study in America?

Greek student wants to study abroad (america) how ? i will reward 10 points to the best one please help!!!!!?

  • I'm 16 years old and i live in greece. I have 2 years left to finish high school in which time i will have to choose a university to study. Unfortunately since the economy in my country sucks (teachers for example actually wait around 10-15 years to find a job once they have finished their university of choice) (anyone watching the news should be familiar with that ...) i do not have many choices left... My grades are pretty high (the greek system awards grades in a 20 point scale ( should you get below 10 it means you fail , 20 is excellent) , and i got around 19.7/20 last year and 19.5/20 the year before that ) , i speak 2 foreign languages : english and french in which i have acquired the "proficiency degree" (which enables me to teach them both should i wish so, therefore i can communicate in them both fluently ) Since my family isn't very rich, we in fact barely make ends meet , i cannot afford either going abroad or studying in greece and i do not wish to study something that doesn't earn you money after graduating or go to a university that will not ensure me of my future... i have a particular interest in science and my fields of choice would be engineering , chemistry and astrophysics (all of which ensure nothing but unemployment in my country should i graduate from such a university) My question is this : are there any chances for a greek student such as myself to study abroad and if so are there any kind of scholarships that i can participate into so that there are no extra expenses for my family ?

  • Answer:

I wouldn't go with America, the economy isn't doing so well here either. Since you're from another country, you wouldn't qualify for federal loans (which aren't that great anyway) and wouldn't get priority for scholarships. I would go to school in Canada, like the other person said (especially since you speak English and French), and if you go to graduate school you can go in either Canada or America (they usually accept Canadian degrees). One thing I would recommend, though, if you plan on going to graduate school, plan your credits carefully, and be conscious of how they will transfer and what universities and graduate schools will accept or require them.
