• I recently got a letter from People to People Student Ambassador Program and was just wondering - for those of you who went on the trip - was it worth it? The itinerary I got is called Traditions to Europe - I would be going to England, Ireland, Wales, France and Netherlands. It looks like an exciting trip but is it just a scam? I've read other responses saying its a scam while others say that they had a good time on this trip. And is it true that someone nominates you to this program? Is there a way to find out who nominated you?

  It's not a scam, but it's also not the prestigious program it used to be. You have to be willing to plunk down the $5,000 - $8,000 a trip would cost. You received your invitation because P2P got your name off of a list of students it bought. Thousands of those letters go out each year -- it's a marketing ploy. Would you have fun on the trip? Sure. But is it worth that kind of money? In my opinion, no. You could take that same money and finance most of a year abroad with an organization such as AFS or YFU and get MUCH more benefit from it.
