Who can tell me the least expensive foreign exchange program?

Can you tell me about foreign exchange program?

  • I need information for my mom if i want to do it! She said she needs to know about it first. Im trying to do it in Japan! i think it will be a great childhood experience, i will make lots of friends and learn alot to! here are some questions: how much does it usually cost? where can i get the application forms? can you meet your host family before you go? how long is the stay (usually)? anything important to know? Do you choose the school you are going to? Do you wear and pay for the school uniform if you go?(stupid question) Do you do the same work as everyone else? thanks! bye!

I went through Rotary, and with that program, tuition is free. You have to pay for travel and everyday expenses like clothes you want to buy and snacks or whatever, you know. With Rotary you don't normally MEET your family, but you can talk with them before you go. There are short-term (summer) and long-term (year) programs. They normally choose the school for you, and the city, and district. I went to Russia, not Japan (I wish I could've gone there). I did the same work as everyone else for the most part. But I couldn't speak Russian, so I actually didn't have to do a lot of the things they did. I did a lot of chemistry and biology and english work. The one downside to Rotary is that normally you choose your top countries, so there's no guarantee that you'll be able to go to Japan. There are others like Youth for Understanding. They have summer and year programs specifically for Japan. http://www.yfuusa.org/ check out the countries and programs. Most of them cost about 10,000. Good luck persuading your mom for that one. I know that these two programs do really well. Go here for the rotary website if you're really interested: http://www.rotary.org/en/StudentsAndYouth/YouthPrograms/RotaryYouthExchange/Pages/Howtoapply.aspx

Well, I think the minimum price is around 5000-6000 and the highest are about 20000. The application forms you can get them with your counselor, or check them on an external program such as Rotary, AFS, EF . You get to know about the host family your going with, but not really meet them. The stay varies from 1 semester to a year. The school is chosen by the program and the costs of uniform, books are all into you, they're not included in the program. And yes you have the same work as everyone

if you are an american and you go to a foreign school and there is some thing that happens some where in the worlu and the united states either takes a stand or does any military action aginst what is precived as a necessary evil and the people of the host country dosent like it then if they know you are an american citizen they will vent there anger out on you,it might just be a cursing or a lot worse like whacking your head off.it they whack off your head then all the education you have ever had will go with it,so think long and hard about going to a country where people dont have a sence of self controle and react like a lunitick.the cost of what ever it might be will never excede the cost of your life
