Can i work in USA with a degree from a different country?
-
I`m a US citizen and Mexican citizen as well, I was wondering if i study and go to college in mexico, would i be able to work in the US. I want to major in Business. Also if a go to college in Mexico I would save a lot of money in tuition, because since i`m a mexican too, am able to go to a top university in Mexico for free. I would just have to pay for room, food, books, etc which adds to no more than $10,000 dollars for a whole year. But may concern is that if i study in a different country would i still be able to work in US??? Additional Details The name of the University is Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico or UNAM, founded in 1551, is the largest institution of higher education in Mexico and Latin America. Considered among the best in Mexico, Latin America, Spain and Portugal, the university has approximate 270,000 students, making it one of the largest universities in the world. The university has done commendable research in technology, science, humanities, and arts. It is the only university in Mexico with three Nobel Laureates among its former students. Many presidents of Mexico graduated from that University, also the actual world richest man, Carlos Slim Helu, graduated from UNAM University. UNAM was founded 85 five years before Harvard University, USA first university. I think that this University is great, students from all over the world attend the university annually.

Answer:
Where you studied less important that you think. As long as you have the credentials. Most employers are more interested in experience, and maybe the degree, but I've never known a company to restrict their hiring based on school.

You will have a slightly harder time getting employment because your school won't have the name recognition of an American school and they won't know if your university had a strong program or not. But saving that much money is no small thing and you're smart to be thinking that way. First, I'd consider if the field you want to enter (if you know what it is yet) is one that's in high demand, where your school might not matter as much, or if it's oversaturated. Second, I'd consider getting my first job in Mexico. Where you went to school will only really matter in getting the first job; after that work experience is what they're interested in. If you work in your area in Mexico for a year or two, that might make it easier to get a job in the US. Being bilingual will definitely work in your favor. In this economic climate, I'd avoid taking out too many loans, so I think your plan sounds reasonable. A lot will depend on what field you're entering, though.
