What can I do with a degree in International Relations?

What kind of jobs can you do with an International Relations degree?

• I'm currently a Seinor in HS and i've been really growing my interest in Internationa Relations but y'know. It seems like there isnt anything to do after graduation other than working for UN or those type of HUGE organizations which i will probably not be capable of getting in. So...what are the options? I'm not talking about non-profit jobs here. As an actual career..

  To get a job specifically working w internationals or working abroad you usually need education beyond the bachelor's degree. If you are just looking for an entry-level job in a business then a liberal arts degree like IR will suffice. Many people choose to get a masters in IR or a similar subject and then pursue a career in the State Department and work in embassies around the world. Although the state dept says that they take new recruits w just bachelors degrees, they usually take more people w masters (around 70%). I got an international studies degree myself but decided i didn't want to work for the state dept as i had originally planned. I am in a master's degree program now for international higher education and work w international students studying at my university. Some of the students who have graduated from my program are now working abroad w study abroad programs or working in international education offices at universities across the country.
