P2P is a reliable program. It is comparatively expensive. I've had students travel on P2P, and through other programs. In my opinion, P2P is more vacation, and less real cultural experience. You travel, you sightsee, you experience something new. But there is no cultural or language immersion. If your cousin wants to travel and sightsee, then P2P is an option. If your cousin wants to gain some fluency skills in another language, and live immersed in a culture, get off the beaten path, then check out other opportunities. www.afs.org, www.nacelopendoor.org, www.yfu.org

I am SO happy I saw this question! People to People has changed my LIFE! it was by far the most rewarding experience of my life. I'm so happy that I got the experience to do it. It IS a reliable program. I traveled to Australia and New Zealand for 3 weeks and had the time of my life. - Prices vary depending on your destination. I believe mine was around $5,000. - It is VERY interesting. It's not school stuff. You do fun activities everyday. - You learn so much about the cultures you're in because you're immersed in it, without having to worry about language issues. -My trip was 3 weeks, like I said. We flew into Australia where we went straight to.. like a petting zoo. I got to hand feed Kangaroos and I even got to hold (and take a picture!) with me and a koala. We went snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, I got to see inside the Sydney Opera House, and I even walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge! I got to feed dolphins, and meet all sorts of really cool Australian people. Lots of shopping :D In New Zealand we took a ferry and a train. We went repelling, and mountian climbing (really not as bad as it souns, and i was out of shape!), we stayed with a family for 2 nights (the ONLY home stay I had). I stayed in wonderful Hotels and Motels the entire time. Nothing at all to worry about! I think that if your cousin has the opportunity to go to a meeting that she should. It is reliable, not a scam. It would depend on where you are coming from, and going to. I was going to go to Australia this summer but I changed my mind and it was about 6 thousand. Yes, I believe it is very interesting. You do many things while there. It depends on where you go, so if you would like to give detail on where your cousin was invited too? :) I was becoming a member, but I'm going to go to France & Spain this year instead (:

My friend went and she had such a great time. She went to austria and actually played volleyball there. Many people say its a rip-off and a scam but its not. Sure it cost quite a bit of money but what doesn't these days. I think her trip cost about $5,000. My friend and I got choosen for the trip to England, Wales and Ireland i'm deffinatly going to the meeting. If you happen to get one just reserve you seat at a meeting and check it out. It doesn't hurt to see.

Tell her its nothing to worry about, I just got back a month ago, and it was amazing! No it's not a scam, My 3 week trip to Europe cost $5,000, keep in mind everything is paid for except for your souvenirs. My trip was very interesting! My favorite part was staying with my host family, they were amazing, and I was just thinking about them. What I learned... man it's alot to type. There were 31 of us, and we went to a meeting every month for about 10 months, I was very prepared, I kinda knew some people, but when the trip was over I knew everyone, and something about therm, those people are like family, I visited everything that you could think of, The Queen of England, Buckingham Palace, The Eiffel Tower, The leaning Tower of Pisa, and everything in between!
