Tips for more effective studying?

What are some study tips to use while studying so you remember what you are studying?

  • I have A HUGE test tomorrow in earth science, what are some things I can do while studying so I can remeber what I'm studying? I easily forget stuff and need to get an A on this test! HELP!

  • Answer:

Study out loud. Study first, then ask someone to quiz you based on the notes you have taken. Draw or build models with labeling when applicable.... does not have to be to scale. Retell in your own words what you have studied (either written or verbal). Study with someone. Use other writing devices besides pen or pencil when taking notes. Use crayons, markers, chalk, finger paint, etc.. Use many different colors. Recite your notes (verbally) while talking with your mouth full of food. When applicable, try to come up with ways that that information is relevant to you, if at all. Study as if you're reading a script and you'll be auditioning tomorrow. I mean use voice inflection, show emotion, show body language, even bring in other "actors," etc..

I learn best by using flash cards. They work best if you do them this way. Read the first one and quiz yourself on it. If you can get the answer without flipping over the card then you move to the second one. Do the same thing with the second one, but before you move onto the third card re-quiz yourself on the first two. Continue doing this. Before you move to the fourth card quiz yourself on the first three. If you repeat each card each time you learn a new card then you will remember them much better.

make sure you try to calm urself first and not panic. Study in a very quiet place with no disturbances. Just read and memorize the stuff

make art, not war

Take it easy. Stress? breathe in and breathe out. Then repeat the words as many times as you can. Try to play a trick. As your self the question without looking at the answer. try to think till it is the end of the world when you meet the answer you cannot answer...hard work make you remember..then if you still dont know, then look at the answer...good job then... Well, or have someone ask you the question and you try to answer...good idea... you better try to guess what can be on the test...Think of what your teacher was talking much about... Make a list of items you have learned...scan through it...figure out what you dont understand or may be unlucky if it is on the test..... Make up the questions, then try to answer it...cuz it is a good trick hahahha

you read text material 3 times. The first time skim for general content including all headings and sub headings. The second ID and highlight the important information in each paragraph and making notes. the third time for content and context, referring to and making additional notes. Helps with studying, however you should read ALL school material that way, then you don't need to cram last minute.

it always helps me to make flash cards, but i know that a lot of people don't like them. if you're one of those people, i suggest you take all your notes and type them up on the computer, but put it in your own words. that way, you're looking at the fact and not just the words that you're reading
