First Canadian diesel Smart Car?

Tata Indica Diesel car for first time car buyer?

  • I am buying a car for the first time, I have never driven nor owned any cars before. My budget is 4L indian rupees. I want to buy a Tata Indica V2 DLS, Many people are advicing me not to buy this car. > Consistent problems, > Servicing related problems. > Since I wil be using the car once in a week, no need of diesell > Quite costly when it comes to maintenance I want to buy this car, simply since I love it, but I am scared about the quality related niggles. Even after paying 4L if i end up at the service center at a regular basis, after driivng only once a week, is this really worth for me? I always wanted to drive a diesel vehicle without much refinement. That ruggedness, that noise and rattling, really peps me up. This car fits into my need. But are diesel vehicles really costly on pockets, tat too a non turbo engine. Pls advice since I do not want to buy a petrol vehicle. I have driven my petrol ungeared 2 wheeler, for 30K+ kms, I dint find any fun in driving that vehicle, I just drove coz I needed it. Now i want to enjoy driving, I want some torque, i am not worried about initial pickup n all, coz i am used to driving slow, very slow, I feel diesel is the way to go. Pls advice, Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

diesels have heavier duty parts...and as long as you take care of them and change all the fluids once every 3 to 5 thousand miles then they will take care of u...now the parts are more expensive when it comes to replacing them and gas prices are outrageous but if u love the thing buy it...follow your heart dude

If you want to run only once a week, don't buy diesel car. This thing itself will create trouble in yr.car.Pl.note that diesel car requires atleast 50 KM/day running, then only it is worth.Otherwise its fuel filters, oil filters will get clogged & you will go to mechanic every week to get it cleaned/changed.The disel engine itself is expensive & complicated compared to a petrol engine, hence more maintenance. After some use,the diesel engine becomes noisy & irritating like the noise of a truck. The maneuverability & the street smartness of a diesel car is always less before a petrol car. Starting problem is always there specially in winters & rainy season,as it doesn't have a spark plug, the heater ,heats the air to be injected in the engine, where fuel is also injected & by compressed hot air the combustion in the engine starts. The efficiency & power of a diesel engine is more, hence the parts are stronger & heavier, that is why the cost of spare parts-especially engine spares is very high compared to petrol engine. Petrol car, even if you start after a months vacation,it will start in one self. So don't buy a diesel car, unless yr.running is daily & atleast 50 KM/day. Whatever extra money you will spend on diesel engine,u will never be able to recover that as yr.running is very less, rather you will spend extra money on maint.because of less running.
