Hi.. I really wanna clarify here that Tata Nano is an absolutely safe and has passed all the safety tests that it is supposed to. Just don't worry about the safety of the car. Indeed you solve your doubts I should mention here that recently Tatas called a 20 member expert engineers team from Jagaur and Land Rover to look into the safety aspects of the car and it was declared absolutely safe. You can have a detailed view here: http://www.cardekho.com/india-car-news/superdrive-a-mega-event-by-tata-to-ascertain-nanos-safety-1873.htm

Tata's car are light on pocket but Tata's technology is very poor. I was driving Tata indica on highway at 100km/hr, suddenly the timing belt broke down and my brake failed due to that , luckily nobody was in front of me and I managed to stop the car by reducing the speed slowly. TATA=Try And Try Again. I don't know why TATA is not using the technology gained from Jag and Land Rover to improve the standard of it's indian cars.

Though Nano is small, it's not that bad when it comes to handling collision. Also considering the fact that this car is meant for city purpose, I think it won't disappoint on safety in city. It may prove to be a disaster on highways though!

Not only you, its good % of people who feel the same. A car enthusiast will never ever opt for a Nano. Safety!!! :) Whoa you mean safety in Nano..Its like relating the same question to an autorikshaw or a Tuk Tuk, does it have safety?? I think this answers...
