Do you have to pay taxes on the car you send overseas?

I want to send CAR from USA to india, what is procedure, n how much taxes (type of taxes) have to pay?

I am planning send Pontiac-Solstice converible from USA to INDIA, for that what is the procedure, how much custom tax i have to pay, how much import tax, from where i can send this. please help me on this

Better consult a clearing & forwarding agent in India (Mumbai/Chennai/Kolkatta). If you are leaving USA for permanent residence in India, you may get import duty concessions. Tax payable for imports are known as customs duties. Tax is applicable for income. If you import a car you may need an Import Export code number, which is available against production of an income pax permanent account number. If you import a car without an import licence you will have to pay en enormous penalty to the customs. You can as well buy a similar car in India.
