Software salary in India after working 15 years in US?

  • My husband is working in US since 9 years and we plan to move to India after 5-6 years once we get citizenship. He is a network eng for a very good company and his current salary is 110k. He will be manager of his group in couple of months. We are interested in Pune but flexible in this matter. How are the salaries and work culture? will he have to work long hours and pls give a good salary estimate. Also, do companies pay in US salaries? Thanks a lot in advance. Please, please do not advertise any online, work from home, job sites for answers. I am not interested so please dont waste your time. Sorry to be rude, but I posted questions before and people advertise instead of helping with real situation.they dont even read the questions and market/advertise their business. Please dont! thanks

As per the current situation, expect a salary that is 1.5 times his total experience in years. So for 15 yrs, expect a gross annual of Rs.22.5 Lakh or nearby. Tax is close to 25%. After retirals, take-home is around 60-65%. Your annual expenses is close to Rs.2.5-3 Lakh, assuming a better-than-moderate lifestyle (but not lavish) and self-owned home. So savings about USD 30,000 per annum. Work culture-wise, expect to work late evenings, but you usually get compensated by coming late in the morning. 10 hrs long work-day is common, plus commuting. After 5-6 yrs, all the above will depend on the market demand of the particular skill your husband has. Hope this helps.

You may stay put where you are placed right now. Getting a job in india is getting much tougher. Tax rates will be applicable at the time of earning such income. It is too premature to calculate tax for income which you have not yet earned or for which you might have to wait for the relevant budget. Most of the companies in India pay in Indian rupees and not us salaries. Work culture may depend on what job you are posted. But be prepared for long traffice jams and you must have lots of endurance and patience if you have to work in india.
