How to close PAN account?

  • UPto last month i worked with XXX company but i didnt close my PAN account in that company thinking that i can transfer that accout to my new company which i have joined in this month.but in my new company they have created one more pan account and they told me to close that old account.so plz suggest me how to close that account.

    Like the person above said, PAN is a "PERMENANT" Account Number. You can only have one PAN irrespective of the company in which you work.

why dear friend, you get a PAN number only once in lifetime and the same number is used by the person, whether he is working for A or B. And there is no such thing as PAN ACCOUNT. I think u must be talking about Provident Fund Accout ( just a guess ) Secondaly you cant have a PAN account in a company, Pan Card is issued by income tax department of Government of India.And no one, i repeat, no one can legally ask you to change your Pan Number. I am sure u are either talking re a PF account or a Bank account.If your salary is being paid thru a bank, it could be a bank account. suggest go to accounts department of the company you are working in and clear your doubts.
