Do I need a new Tax Registration?

Need help in service tax start up registration?

  • hi all, this is kingshuk here. i am going to start a new home base online business. the form of business is sole proprietorship. What i found that though "business Registration" is not required for proprietorship business, it requires few other document s and Govt registration. **my business is totally online based and deals with informational services and products. I am located in kolkata, west bengal. My queries are: 1. what are the mandatory Govt registration for proprietorship business? 2. is there any specific sort of Govt recognition available for online or internet based business? 3. i need a current or business bank account which requires service tax registration. is service tax registration mandatory for current account? 4. if i register with service tax registration, is it mandatory to pay service tax when annual turn over is minimal ( less than 2 lack)? 5. my business will deal with both service and product. so do i need to register for VAT (or sale tax) again? 6. if i go for service tax, then also do i need to register with any other local authorities like municipality? 7. where do i need to go for service tax or sale tax registration? thanks in advance....

    from details provided by you point was answer is given below 1. no govt registration required 2.not yet 3.st registration not required for current account 4.if service tax registration done then return is mandatory but payment is not ...but don't register if sale is just 2 lakh 5vat registration is required noprmally if sales is more than 500000 but it should be within state . for intere state sale registration is required 6.read answer 4 7read answer 4 and for vat registration go to sales tax department

There may be two types of registration needed 1- VAT Registration- if your are doing the business of goods sale and purchase. For this purpose there are statewise VAT Act. Try to locate the VAT Act of your state and concerned office in Kolkatta 2- Service Tax Registration- If your are providing any taxable service and your turnover exceeds Rs 900000.00 in a year. For knowing list of taxable service and process of regisration visit www.cbec.gov.in or www.aces.gov.in Registration process is online. For opening current account registration of service tax is not necessary but ID and Address proof and PAN is must.
