How much I will get in hand salary if my package is Rs.2,40,000 p.a.? (CTC)?
-
I have a Job offer from HDFC Bank with a package of Rs. 2,40,000/- p.a., so makes it Rs. 20,000 per month. But will I be getting Rs. 20,000 in hand or less after any tax deduction? Or is it a CTC package? Please explain. If I'll get less, how much do you think I will be getting in hand salary after tax deduction?

Answer:
You really need to examine your offer letter as it is very difficult for anybody to give you a precise figure without examining the same... See the fact is that some companies have a lot of deductions, which decreases the salary you get in hand...however the deductions will be beneficial for you in the long run...other companies prefer not to deduct much and give more salary in hand to their employees...it really depends upon the company and a glance at your CTC break-up (in your offer letter) will tell a better story... You will definitely not get 20,000 in hand, as there will be always the standard deductions of PF, PT etc...Some banks offer interest-free loans to their employees and also include the value of this benefit in the CTC, so it is impossible to tell what deductions your company will make from your salary, without looking at your offer letter... However HDFC is a popular bank, with fair and ethical practices, so you don't need to worry much...you will definitely get whatever you have been promised, though maybe not all in-hand...My best guess is that you might get approximately 16500 - 17000 /-... You could contact the HR department of HDFC bank and they will readily provide you with a more accurate figure as well as a detailed description of where your deductions are going...

There will be some tax deducted so you will not get the exact Rs.20,000 in hand. How much gets deducted depends on what sort of tax saving investments you make and what sort of expenses you have. I would suggest you talk to the finance team available in-house (I assume there would be one) or HR team to understand how you can save on taxes. Else if you have a CA already, he/she will be able to guide you.

I think you should get around 16-17k . probably not more than that . because, for a CTC of 3L , monthly salary is around 19-20k . Anyway , it depends on which company you work for . eg ,for a CTC of 3L , some companies give 18.5k , some offer almost 20k .
