What is the qualification required to be an income tax officer?

Documents required for Indian Income Tax?

  • What are the documents that are to be submitted along with Income tax returns? What are the income proofs i need to show? I have a good deal of online earnings (through affiliate marketing/adsense ) for which i don't have any formal receipts. Am i required to show any proof for all those income apart from my bank statement? Furthermore, where should i include this source of income... from business/profession category or from other sources category? Sorry if my questions are too dumb...i'm a total newbie to income tax :p Thanks in advance

  • Answer:

You have to file ITR - 4 for "Income from Business or Profession". You will require professional help. Once you seek professional help all other questions become irrelevant.

This type of Income is taxable under the head of 'Income from Business or Profession'. You claim Expenses related to this in it also. You have to file ITR 4 but no any document attached with it otherwise your return may be invalid. But keep all the record with you for producing on demand by the assessing officer. Bank Statement is acceptable proof for your Income alongwith your online communication details with clients.

Income proof is bank statement. And yes you need to pay taxes on that. Nothing more is required at this point of time. However keep the documents received like adsense details etc for future reference. Firstly do invest some money (under sec 80C) and save some tax. http://etaxtips.blogspot.com/2009/02/india-save-income-tax-under-section-80c.html

The income earned should be shown in income from business and proffesion and you need not attach any thing other than the balance sheet and profit and loss account. when assessment take place then bank statement need to be produced

Your bank statement is the proof of your income. It may be shown under "Income from other sources"
