Form 16 not given by employer?

Query regarding Form No 16.?

• I am facing a problem regarding form no 16 (TDS certificate by the employer) given to me. In the form given only the TAN of the employer is given but not the details of the acknowledgement no and the quarter in which my income tax was submitted. Now my income tax lawyer is unwilling to accept the form since the above details are not given and asked me to get those from my office. My office says those details are not needed to submit income tax return (since TAN is given, my office is taking responsibility if anything goes wrong) and there might be complication in giving such details since income tax deducted of all the employee was submitted as a single unit, not individually. Can anybody please tell what the exact rules are in this regard? What should I do next?

  Ask your lawyer to view your Tax Credit Statement (Form 26AS) from the incometax website online. All the details are provided there about your Tax Deducted and you can also check that whether it has been deposited or not by your employer. And your employer is also correct that you dont need to know the acknowledgement no. to file your income tax return.
