Is it possible for me to put a background in my group?

Everybody has their own story, why are people put into groups?

• A little background info: This is LGBT history month. Also, my school has assemblies where speakers talk. This next assembly is a panel of LGBT people talking about their stories. OK, so now let me talk about the question: I am introducing the panel and our teacher gave us a prompt to help write our introduction. One of the prompt questions was "Why is it important that our community treat each person’s story as personal (and not representing their 'group')" and I was wondering your stories (if you feel comfortable sharing.) Yahoo answers is doing the opposite of this, the category is LGBT which is in culture and group. Everybody has their own stories and shouldn't be counted in a certain group. You can and should be proud or you sexuality: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Straight, Undefined and more but you shouldn't be put in a group that says everybody who wants to be identified as a woman wants to be a women for the same reason. Everybody has their own story and everybody should be accepted. I don't know if this a question or just a statement I wanted to make but listen to it. Also, DON'T assume. Just because a man seems more feminine doesn't mean he is gay.

  They are put into groups because they have things that allows for them to be put into groups, their race, culture, sexual preference, what they wear, what clubs they belong to, where they come from, don't be upset about it's not a bad thing, different groups means different people, no groups mean we're all the same without identity.
