Why is it ok for black people to have their own tv station but not white people?

• It really annoys me that there is a Black Entertainment television. Why is it that if white people did something like that they would be racist but blacks can do whatever they want. most shows are frowned upon if there isnt diversity in skin color. But if the tv show is about black people, then the tables are turned and it doesnt matter. I guess I just dont understand why!

  Why is it that white people who ask this question NEVER mention that fact that Hispanics and Latinos have their own stations and they are in their own language? This observation is not meant point fingers at Hispanics and Latinos. I see nothing wrong with Hispanics and Latinos having a media outlet that caters to their culture. My point is white people are so focused on other people have that they don't they refuse to see how they want to control everything. This is especially the case when it come to black people. White people want to dictate what kind of cultural needs black people should have. Question. On the free TV stations how many new shows are there that feature black culture as the theme? Answer; none. On cable TV outside of BET and TVOne there are only 2 two shows that have new episodes that exclusively feature Black culture. 2 out of 1000s of shows. None on free TV. Also the Cleveland Show doesn't count. The Cleveland Show is the equivalent of animated black face in the same tradition as Al Jolson in the Vaudeville days. Martin, The Cosby's, Jamie Foxx, The Steve Harvey Show, Everybody Hates Chris, Lincoln Heights, Good Times, The Jefferson's, Sanford and Son, What's Happening, A Different World, Run's House, In the House, The Royal Family, Roc, The Game, Fresh Prince etc, etc, etc are all in syndication. Again there are less than a handful of shows that exclusively feature Black culture are in production right now. Also reality shows and talk shows outside of BET and TVOne don't count because Oprah, Tyra, Wendy Williams and the various cooking shows hosted by Black Chefs (which I love) are not specific to Black culture. So when we look at TV programming the comparison between black and white is no comparison. There are vastly more programs that cater to the cultural needs of white people. This is to be expected in America where the majority of the population is white. However it is white people such as yourself that question the validity of the MINUTE amount of programming that specifically caters to black people is very telling. Is it safe to say your prejudice is showing?
