Question for black people how are mixed people black if they have a white parent ?

  • I do not claim biracial as black myself,I considered them what they are mixed,I do not understand though why many black people feel the need for mixed people to be called black .I don't mind mixed people embracing black culture cause it's in their blood,but they should also call themselves mixed and not shun one side.I cannot love my mother over my father I love both.I wanna know why some black folks get angry if mixed people want to be called mixed,I'd understand if The mixed person just wanted to claim white than I would be offended.But mixed if what they are,black is what we are,it's the facts.Do not come to me with this mixed people look black yes they have dark skin,but they do not look exactly black you could not mistake a mixed person for the same race as me.I have dark skin they have light.

Does it really matter? its their life they can choose who they want to be just like you are able to say they are mixed....its called choice. If they want to be seen as Black then they are Black.

they are biracial BUT whites came up with a thing called the 1 drop rule. Blacks have always accepted biracials because sometimes the white family wouldn't accept the child, which is sad but the truth in some cases.

Windam people half white half black can never look fully white they might look more on the white side but because they have a black parent they will not look like your average white american so them identifying as a white person would be stupid and a sign of self-hatred. Edit: Windam i never said i believe that black genes are dominant but somebody half black can never look fully black nor somebody half white can look fully white. 50% is a lot if you think about it

I concur. People of mixed ethnicity may identify more with one part than the other but the fact of the matter is that they are what they are. People like the first poster are a fine example of caring too much and misdirecting their anger at things that happened long ago with people who are long since dead... Most biracial people identify with their black side more. It has less to do with what black people FORCE them (I'd like to know how that forcing thing happens & where) and more to do with how SOCIETY sees them. Most White people see non white before they see anything else.
