Does anyone know the true origin of Xmas, Thanksgiving and Easter?

So i was watching a program on the history channel yesterday called THE ORIGIN OF THANKSGIVING.?

  • WELL the pilgrims came to america and they did not know how to survive. they were dying off slowly. fathers buried sons and mothers buried fathers etc. well only 57 of them were left after the first few months. then a tribe of indian stumbled upon them...fed them, showed them how to survive, gave them tonnes of food that will feed them for months, gave them clothes, treated them so kindly that i couldnt believe humans could be so generous. what did the white people do later on when they were settled and comfortable and knew how to survive ? they turned around and slaughtered all the indians. why did they do that ? i nearly cried when i saw the ultimate betrayal. this made me angry inside. does anyone know how to release anger ? any techniques ? thanks in advance. this anger is consuming me. i wish i had never watched that program

  • Answer:

The pilgrims did it because the balance of power shifted, and they could now take all the land for themselves. It was and is always about the land. Don't you know it is still going on here today? An old song said that the tribes were wiped out, and the history books censored, a hundred years of your statesmen have felt it's better this way. Happy T day

This is an ugly truth that they do not teach in school. America has a very ugly history. This whole world does, actually. Nevertheless, we only have Thanksgiving to have a family dinner together. (at least my family does). How to get anger out? Go for a jog, deep breathing techniques, whatever.......you cannot change the past, but you can be part of the change for the future by not contributing to hate and racism...:) And no, not all White people are crazy.....I have never "slaughtered" anyone. Lots of people haven't. Any "race" and country can find their fair share of ugly history (even today) of slaughter and terror and abuse. By the same token, in those same places we can find kind and peaceful people.

It's the nature of the racist beast. Of course they will now demonstrate how to make 100 excuses in the shortest amount of time. EDIT: EVERYONE!! let's all congratulate LISA, hers was number one in the stupid excuse category, Gone give it to her!

The pilgrams betrayed the idians because of greed and selfish reasons. They thought there was "no room" for the two of the cultures, so they killed the indians. They wanted more than 50% of the land, they wanted 100%, they didn't want to share, they wanted everything. The indians could've done the same, but they had more kindness and compasion. It's everywhere in the world (greed and selfishness) and you might not even know it. You don't need history to tell you that the world is selfish, you just look arround. There won't be a day that goes by without strife and greed. Think of it this way though, without strife and greed wouldn't the world be boring? Strife is what makes life exciting in a way, and keeps us going.

Only 57 of them were left? If only the Natives could have seen ahead, then those 57 pilgrims would all have been dead.

you can't un-crack an egg. What you're suffering now, is the realization that everything you ever learned was a LIE. Hard to deal with I imagine. how to get rid of the anger. . . shoot me a line. I'll give you a few ideas. you CAN start by getting your govt to HONOR the treaties, or Renegotiate them.

Did those 57 people go and slaughter Native Americans?? I doubt it....certainly it was other people, as wrong as it was. it's just another sad chapter in the history of humanity doing such things. And whether the majority of Americans see the feast as positive...well that's really no different than how people in Western Asia view Genghis Khan [who did the same things, but on a much larger scale] than do the people in Mongolia, and people in Ireland view Oliver Cromwell, versus how they view him in England. Toussaint, a few days ago, when you asked: Do you sometimes get overwhelmed by your commitments in life? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoOZCq4ivz6kDRKFauhBqkfty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091120185155AA2utNJ&show=7#profile-info-nuvMfZv5aa I answered: Maybe you just have poor time management skills. You certainly waste a lot of time in Yahoo Answers Are you STILL wasting your time on Yahoo Answers at the cost of your commitments in life? I'm just asking.... My point is this what are YOU now going to do to make the world a better place, so that things like this never happen again??? If all you are going to do is hate all the white people you see [like that would be an original reaction] what the heck good will you be doing??? Should someone like me, whose family came 260 years after that Thanksgiving, should feel guilt from this? Sorry, I don't. I can feel sad as all getout, but at the end of the day I still need to keep a roof over my head and put food on the table. All anger does is eat one up from the inside. It doesn't do a damn thing. I have found that anger is most rapidly dissipated when one embarks on a mission to do what he/she can to make the world a better place.
