What are black features?

Apparently people are not aware that blacks are a diverse looking group of people as well. Having very dark lovely skin and a handsome wide nose is NOT the only way of being black. Look at me, i'm 100% and although i have a wider nose, i do not have exaggerated features. Edit: Anoshora is WRONG once again. Most Africans do NOT look like Djimon, who i find to be strikingly attractive, by the way. He is another uninformed person saying that most Africans look alike, which is incorrect.

As an African person who lives in America, I am aware of this stereotype. I do have a wider nose and thicker lips but they aren't stretched all across my face I mean not everyone looks the same. People really don't know much about indigenous African people if they did they wouldn't make such silly comments. As they can see from those videos we vary in features, hair textures and skin tones just like Europeans and Asians.

I think this comes about becuase the majority of Black people worldwide are descendants of slaves taken against their will to parts of the world. Where did the majority of slaves come from? West Africa and it seems the stereotypical features are those most common in West Africa. And even then, racist minstrels, movies and cartoons have historically exagerrated them to be funny. Our full lips began to take up half our face. Our nostrils could fit cars up them. Our skin was darker than midnight. European Whites have the advantage in showing the world their diversity because their willing immingration comes from a wider portion of Europe. Whites in America don't just come from England or Ireland or Norway, they came from all over. I mean I am sure more Africans other than West African have emigrated from Africa since slavery (I don't have any statistics) but probably nowhere near the extent of white people for many reasons. One being that there was historically prejudice against non-whites imigrating to the US while the door was thrown wide open for whites. And even if there is a wide diversity of Africans in America our prejudice doesn't allow us to see it. I mean, people probably assume they are mixed race or "Arab" or "Latino" because we are already have an idea of what a black person looks like. And if you don't fit it you must not be black. Idiots.

Theres no such thing as black features people are just ignorant to the fact that any race can have any different feature. Some features however show more in different races then others.

I've heard there is greater physical variation within a ...race than between races. But to answer your question I would hope that people realize that not everyone looks like that. It would be freaky if they did and technology is way more advanced than I was aware if everyone looks like that and they have cloning. Ok, seriously, A person would have to be pretty damn Isolated to not be aware, they would have to never have seen any black people to not see. Hell I live in a mainly Asian/Caucasian city and I'd have to be dumb to not see the differences in black facial features and there aren’t many black people around who aren’t Indian but it’s still right there in front of my face locally there is different Ethnicity everywhere down my street the bakery and takeaway and veg shop are run by Vietnamese, the liquor by Lebanese, the smoke shop by Greek, the Italian restaurant and deli Italians, The chemist and beauty pallor plain old Australian Caucasians and the hairdressers the newsagents is of an unknown Ethnicity. Everyone has different facial features. It is everywhere. Where can you live in the world where you don’t know that all races come with large varieties of facial features? You would have to live way in the outback, be home schooled and not have TV to miss it. I mean come on so to do Asians and white People you’d have to miss your own race to not be able to comprehend that. But then again maybe I’m expecting too much to think that is obvious, that people would just see that, I’m always amazed at the weird pieces of bigotry I hear.

To them it means broad noses, full lips, thick build, nappy hair, etc... Stereotypical things. The only way to break this stereotype (and others) is to enforce postive views on black people in the media and to embrace our natural selves instead of self hating. In order to change things, we have to be the change.

The Tribes of the Sahel and the Africans from the Horn (Ethiopian etc..) tend to have slimer features ...
