Why are my steam games so slow?

Why do games cost more on steam in other countrys?

• So i was looking at buying a game on steam that a lot of my online friends have been playing but was up in the air as to if i should because its 90$ US. When i was talking to my friend from the us apparently the game was 30$ for him a few weeks ago not on special or anything. so i figured it was a US vs new Zealand thing. but then i talked to another friend in aus who said he got it for 30$ as well. so my question is since the game is digital is there any reason for the game to be so much more expensive over here? i play a lot of games and this is the 1st time Ive seen anything like this off steam.
