What do you think of the current All Blacks Squad?

Do you think there is a misunderstanding between blacks and whites?

  • I think a lot of blacks think white people are racist. And the whites seem to think we can't let go of slavery. There is a huge misunderstanding in my opinion. In actuality, ... we (black people) aren't even thinking of slavery anymore. Yeah I mean we tend to think of it from time to time just like ALL history,...but we don't use it as a gateway to get what we want and prove our points. We don't use slavery as an excuse for EVERYTHING. I think that's the misunderstanding white people have about us. They seem to think we are STUCK in the past and always angry at them due to slavery. But were NOT. And that's where i think racism comes from b/c white people feel more safe being racist and/or intimidated by us than getting to know us. And black people tend to think all white people are racist. I'm able to attest to that because I think this way sometimes. And i've only derived that assumption because when I'm walking it seems white people get soo frightened by me and if they accidentally look at me they turn away quickly as if they are forbidden to look at me. So I guess what i'm trying to say is that black and white people are both misunderstood. We think you guys hate us and white people think we hate them.....What do you guys think???....

I honestly believe that white people misunderstand a lot of things. I think blacks can pretty much accept whites for who they are and what they do but whites can't do that for anyone else. This is a cold, hard fact.

I never thought that all white people were racist. I used to think hardly any were when I was younger, but now I realize it's more than I thought. I miss the innocence of childhood. But I still know that there aren't as many racist white people as others think.

There are A LOT of misunderstandings. We are still carrying on a feud our ancestors started.

I agree with you 110%.

If anything I think there's more of a misunderstanding of black people from white people. The people who usually stereotype black people more than anyone else are white. A lot of white people I know seem to think that I'm not aware of my skin color because I don't act or dress in the way that their preconceived notions of me would like them to believe. Even though there are people who will tell you they know that not all black people are the same, it's obvious that they don't actually understand that. If they did, they wouldn't always stereotype all blacks as the same. In this generation, if a black man wants to move ahead with his life and stay away from trouble, he is considered as "white washed" from the white people who choose to be ignorant. Hell, even black people who are ignorant would consider him white washed.

@Cute Gayl That isn't true. You just stereotyped all Whites as being exactly the same. I agree with the fact that it is primarily misunderstanding that leads to seperations between Blacks and Whites but minorities who have their own pre-conceived ideas about all Whites being exactly the same, like Cute Gayl's post, are primary causes for Whites not trusting minorities. It is basically "well no matter what I do, they will just assume that I am racist so I might as well be racist and at least have the backing of my own people who are racist".

Yes. That's why I don't understand when people say black people always think and complain about slavery.

I think most white people are afraid to be cast the scarlet "R" word by the black counterparts, such as I have. Personally I don't really think most black people are mad about slavery. If they are though, just remember that all history aside (and I mean ALL accounts of slavery) you where never slaves and we don't own slaves. I think it has more to do with the typical prejudice that occurs. I'm white and really don't have any problems with black people. I've been to places and events where the majority of the people participating are black and have never really felt threatened. Am I suppose to be ? The faster we take history less seriously (not forget it, mind you) and the more we just get with the program the sooner we can get things done in America, IMO.
