Culturally speaking: Whats your opinion on tattoos?

Only non civilized people uses tattoo

Vomit!!! Low class and foolish. Just a current fad and in 20 years all these old folks are going to be running around talking about how cool they were. You would be better off reading a good book or accomplishing something that actually matters than attempting to boost your ego by getting a tattoo. (I make an exception for guys in the army who tag themselves in memory of lost com rads.) I fully understand the meaning of the mark. I understand gang membership but do not think anyone under 18, adult, should be able to make the commitment. Belonging to a gang is a decision that only an adult should make. Brainwashed kids do not know what they are getting into until it is too late. I understand them. I did not say I liked them. Those are probably the only two situations in which I would scar my body. Membership in something and in memory of a tragic event of some sort that perhaps I survived and friends did not. I guess I just think of tattoos more serious than "body art." What looks cool to you today will be your problem tomorrow. That goes for everyone. So you may want to have a really good reason for getting one. Looking cool, is never a good reason.

Today, tattoos are more and more meaningless and stupid. Tribal peoples tattooing themselves - that's quite interesting. Modern day people trying to show off their shallow interests, like dragons and chinese symbols and ying/yang crap, or flowers or butterflies, lotuses --- this **** is stupid. Just my opinion. Tribal peoples of old have an excusable ignorance in this regard. "Civilized" people of today really have no reason to get a tattoo other than for superficial reasons. The spiritual or 'meaningful' aspect of it is pretty much null and void and we all should know better than that by now than the attribute such meaning to something purely physical as injecting ink into your epidermis.

I get tattoos of things i earn in battle. or tattoos too remember fallen loved ones or tattoos to honor heritage

I love them! They're very artistic, and it's your body, so do what you want to it. I have two of my own

for me its nice when your young but as grow older it sucks

I would rather not get one but I don't knock others who do.
