• How does the media’s depiction of each nation affect immigrants assimilations and our society’s view of Chinese and Japanese? For many years the Japanese were only depicted in movies as perpetrators of the Pearl Harbor attack. This has begun to change with movies like Tom Sellack’s Mr. Baseball and Bill Murray’s Lost in Translation. Most movies concerning the Chinese remain either martial arts or as the villains in spy movies. That is my take it seems the media is a little more open and friendly in their depiction of the Japanese over the Chinese what does everyone think? And how does this affect each group’s assimilation in the U.S.?

  This is one of the situations in which negative publicity is negative, no matter how you look at it. Even worse when the editorial staff become vindictive towards a particular group. You know how it works when it comes to politics - newspapers side in accordance with their readers and whoever they think is gonna break the biggest stories.
