Does anyone know about suriname's culture?

Does anyone know anything about Iranian culture?

  • Is anyone familiar with Iranian culture other than what the media says? I'm not doing a paper or anything, its just a question I had. I'm familiar with Iranian culture but I wanted to know if anyone else had a more indepth view. Anyone know about the customs, greetings, daily life, etc in Iran?

  • Answer:

Christians actually owe a lot to Iran. Zoraster, the founder of Zorastrianism was from Persia (what Iran used to be called). His was the first monotheistic religion to really take hold. All other religions before had a belief in many gods, his believed in one Supreme being. If he hadn't paved the way, Jesus would have had a much tougher row to hoe, so to speak. Women have a definite voice, it is much more behind the scenes than in front. they are not sold into marriage; shabahair (I'm spelling this like it sounds) means good night, soapbahair means good morning.

Ah, the poor Persians (Iran used to be Persia). Many in the world think they are Arabs, but they are quite particular that they are not. They are predominantly Muslim, but they are primarily Shia, whereas most all other Arabs are Sunni (if you don't know the difference, I'm afraid I can't explain here - it's different, though). They speak a different language, though they use the Arabic script. Since the Iranian revolution in 1979 there has been quite a strict theocracy. They have had a problem with brain drain in the country, as many of the students and professionals are fed up with the mullahs and leaving the country. Maybe that is enough for you.

I know that they have a habit of brutalizing and mutilating women. They also "sell" them instead of wed them. If a man wants to marry a woman, the woman's parents need to prove she is a virgin, plus give a large dowry. Thus selling the woman to the man. It's ridiculous in this year that such things are allowed to go on. They are also one of the country's that allow the mutilation of young girls but the removing of certain feminine sexual parts to discourage sexual deviancy or adultery. Shame on them for such crimes against humanity.

Well, Iran (Ex-Persia), has a thousands years of history! How could we present it in this little time and space? The main issue is that the "Great King" was a totalitarian ruler who owned everything, definitely the people also! Further, people had no rights and just a few were educated and those only to serve the wealth of the King! All this changed several times but finally the Alexandre invasion changed all and some freedoms and rights were implied to the benefit of the people! That great was the influence of Alexandre that when he died, the mother of the King, Sisygamvis, sat on her throne, put a black velo and refused to take food till she died! She did such action when the conqueror of her country and the one who took the powers from her son!!!
