LGBT: How to get more followers on Tumblr? What is your opinion of Tumblr?

I have a tumblr, had one for a while now. But it seems I can't get anyone to find or follow my tumblr & the only followers I do have are normally "You followed me, So I'll follow you back" type of users or Empty Tumblr's of people reblogging everything without posting anything of their own. How to get more followers on Tumblr? What is your opinion of Tumblr?
Answer:

Do you have a certain theme for your tumblr? If you do, include tags relating to the pictures/posts/links/audio etc; that you post. I don't have a set theme for my tumblr (like what I'd post) so how I get followers I don't know, unless they live by the "follow for a follow" mentality.
