Profile problem after the format change?

I can't seem to make my profile visible to anyone outside of my contact list since the new format for the profiles on Yahoo Messenger. I have the settings selected to allow anyone to see my profile, but only those who have sent or received contact requests can view it. I've tried using both my old (8.0) version and the new 9.0 version and 9.0 beta version with no success. What am I missing or doing wrong ?

Most likely you have attempted to restrict your instant messages to only the people on your contact list. You could do this successfully in Yahoo Messenger versions 7.0 and below. Unfortunately, beginning with Yahoo messenger 7.5, if you did this and went into a chat room you could not see anybody typing because everybody who is not on your contact list is ignored. At the top of YM, click the Messenger Menu, and go to Preferences. Choose the Ignore List category on the left. choose the bottom circle, Ignore only the people below, and click Apply. In order to help prevent IM bombs, a type of booting, it is advised to make instant messages from people not on your contact list open in a single window. Now go to the Messages category in Preferences. Under where it says “When I receive messages from people not on my Messenger List,” choose “Show the Messages in a single window.” Click Apply and OK.
