If youi have not sorted it, which it looks like you have then 1st one for a pic, second for an avatar. Click on view my profile. Double click on your picture or avatar where it says change your picture.Box opens with options to upload a picture. Upload the picture from your computer, select it and you are done. Go to edit my preferences at the top right of your home page. You will see a grey smiley marked get my avatar now. Click that and you can create your avatar on the page that opens.

Save your profile pics in pc, then log in yahoo messenger & open chat box or chat with someone then click on left side image may be your current avatar or may be hide (then just click on avatar icon & choose show) then click on avatar & choose your profile pic which you save in pc.
