How to get rid of yahoo profile stuff?

I have yahoo 9.0. I change my nickname to paper ghost in my profile but in chat its still xpaperghostx. Why?

  • Ever since yahoo switched stuff around to beta and such, I can't get my nickname to show in the chat rooms. It says 'Paper Ghost' in my profile just the way it should. And so I expect it to say 'Paper Ghost' when I go in a chatroom, but it doesn't. It says xpaperghostx which is my email. I already downloaded Messenger 9.0 and I feel like I've tried everything.

    Go to your yahoo messenger friends list. Click on messenger, then click on "my contact details", underneath the box in which you could enter your first, last and middle name is a box that says nickname. Enter your new nick, save it and you're done. If users already added you to their messenger list and/or address book, your old name setting will continue to get displayed for them. If you want those users to see your new name also, ask them to remove you from their messenger list and/or address book and add you back with your new info.

you can't change nicks.. but make sure it's set up correctly. Pass this information out to your friends so everyone will fix their profiles. The new profile system only allows ONE profile per account, no matter how many alias ID's you have on that Main account. To set it up so that it can be seen in chat, do the following: Go to your profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com) Click on settings on the right On the left where it says "About Me" change that from My Connections, to "Anyone" Click save Click on People Search (grayed out box on the right) Click the box at the top that says allow people to find me Put a check mark by all your alias ID's that you want to use this profile for. Now when you're in chat, people CAN see your profile.
