Can my friends view my messenger social in windows live?

i have windows live e-mail and when i click on photos at the top of my page it takes me to my pics but also shows my messenger social n i can see one of my friends messenger social too on the same page whys that? so my question really is how can i make my messenger social private so only i can see it? also can any of my friends see my messenger social to begin with?
