How can i change my nickname in chatting?

Is there another way to change my nickname in chat?

  • I want to change my nickname that is displayed in the chat rooms, but when I click "Change My Nickname" under chat, it opens a window but says "The requested service is not available" and I know it has been like this for years and I had thought it was only a temporary problem. Is there another way to change my nickname? like I know you can type "/join (name of chat)" in the chat window. So is there something like that I can type to set a different nickname for myself?

    sometimes what works is, if you put your own e-mail address in your address book with the nickname you want, it shows up as that when you chat.
