How do I find a person's profile if I have their email address?

I know a certain user id is taken - I tried to get it myself. How can I find that person's profile to see if it is an old friend? Is there a way to find this out without emailing them? When I went through the yahoo member search, it came up with no results - yet the user id is taken. ??

Answer:
Send an offline im and wait for the reply if it is who you think he/she will answer to a question you can ask. then if it isn't who you think you dont accept them on to your address tab. good luck. c yah.
