How do I get my e mail address off my instant messenger, and create a screen name?

Everytime I sign in to messenger it displays my full e mail ...I just want a screen name ..how can I fix this?

Click on Messenger at the top of your Contact List then click on My Contact Details, take out what you want and put in what you want. HIT SAVE AND CLOSE BE SAFE Cheri
