Viewing someone elses profile who is not in my contact list?

When I go to 'contacts', the 'view profile' is not highlighted for me to click on. I want to view someones profile before I add them to my list. How can I get my 'view contact' button highlighted again so I can use it?

The "View Profile" where you can view someone not on your buddy list is no longer available. The "View Profile' feature now is for viewing someone on your buddy list. You need to click on a name/id to use the View Profile feature on "Contacts" menu. There is another way to view profile. Right click on the name/id and select View Profile. When someone adds to their Messenger List, there is a View Profile key that you can click, to look up the requestor's profile. Click the link below if you wish to view someone else's profile who is not on your buddy list - http://profiles.yahoo.com/(enter here name/id)
