Can I change how my name appears on my friends chat?

When I chat to someone, my real name appears. How do I change it so my nickname appears instead?

  • I have recently downloaded Yahoo Messenger and I chat to a friend of mine. When we chat, my real name appears in the instant message chat box so she sees my real name. How do I change it so my nickname appears in the chat box to her instead?

  • Answer:

    First you must have a nick name in your profile. Edit your profile and put your nick name. Go to messenger preferences and look for the option to display nick name. If necessary, save the changes.

On main yahoo messenger list window click on Messenger. *the same button you would go to if you were signing out* Select My Contact Details! The name you want everyone else to see when you talk should be typed into Nickname then press Save and Close. This should fix your problem!
