    Your avatar can be a cartoon or a photo. Cartoons are created at the Avatar web site. Photos are uploaded to the Pulse web site. If you have hidden your Pulse Profile you can use a cartoon avatar but for a Pulse Profile picture to appear here it can't be hidden. If you do not want information public then you can hide each element or leave it blank. If you have already created an avatar and it is not appearing be sure to follow step Ⓒ completely. Ⓐ │ If you want a C̲a̲r̲t̲o̲o̲n̲ avatar then create or modify one at Ⓐ │ http://avatars.yahoo.com and then go to Ⓒ. Ⓑ │ If you want a P̲h̲o̲t̲o̲ avatar then upload an image to your Pulse Profile at Ⓑ │ http://pulse.yahoo.com/y . Click on the current photo to get the update options. Ⓑ │ Select the one you want to use and then go to Ⓒ. NOTE: If you hide your profile Ⓑ │ the image will not show up on Yahoo! Answers. To create a Yahoo Avatar click the link http://avatars.yahoo.com After you are on the avatar page look up on the top right and click on (Preferences) then choose "Male or Female". On the next page you will see a tool bar up at the top with some selections, like Appearance, Apparel, Extras, Background and Branded. While you look through those categories you will see that, Apparel, Extras and Background will have many numbered pages to choose from. After you have looked through the categories and have created your avatar, then click (Save Changes). When you have done that then return to "My Activity" and click (Edit My Preferences). Under the new avatar click use (My Yahoo Avatar), then scroll and click (Submit). If you have your profile set to private your avatar will not show on Yahoo Answers. If your Pulse is hidden you can "unhide" it by clicking this link http://pulse.yahoo.com/ and change your settings. Where it says Privacy click the blue link, then on the next page remove the check mark where it says Hide My Profile and be sure to click (Save) when you are finished. MooN ←

First, go to your "activity" on the right side of the page. Then, go to "Edit my preferences". Then, you have to press "Update my photo or avatar". You should have lists of pictures if you have some. Click on them and press submit. And you have your new pic.
