How do you set up a profile for yahoo messenger?

When did yahoo messenger change its profile set up ...?

  • Its totally different... I just noticed the other day.. What do you think of the new profile set up ...? Im not sure - its way different ! Thanks Brook=)

    October 16th This is because the profile was not set up correctly. Pass this information out to your friends so everyone will fix their profiles. The new profile system only allows ONE profile per account, no matter how many alias ID's you have on that Main account. To set it up so that it can be seen in chat, do the following: Go to your profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com) Click on settings on the right On the left where it says "About Me" change that from My Connections, to "Anyone" Click save Click on People Search (grayed out box on the right) Click the box at the top that says allow people to find me Put a check mark by all your alias ID's that you want to use this profile for. Now when you're in chat, people CAN see your profile.

I found out early this morning I think Yahoo has screwed this up.

I'm glad I read this...I've been going nuts trying to locate my default profile, and it's not there! When I click on my contacts profiles, they're just a blank yahoo avatar. Hopefully the gods of yahoo will fix this mess they've created.

Going through the same thing here, and I utterly HATE this new layout, you can't look at other profiles nor barely even edit your own. I think Yahoo should just leave them the hell alone because it was much MUCH more simpler that way!
