How do I change the picture image on my profile?

Can't change Profile Image in Yahoo Messenger.?

• I've already asked this but the previous suggestions did not work. For some reason, I cannot change my profile image on Yahoo Messenger. I click on my current picture, click display image, click select image but when I click "Browse" Yahoo Messenger just crashes. Although it doesn't really bother me, I also have the same issue when sending files over Yahoo Messenger. I'm not sure whether or not this is related to Messenger crashing, but whenever I open up Yahoo Messenger, a window pops up saying, "An error occurred when trying to access the "SocialView" plugin" or something similar to that. As far as actual chatting goes, I can do that with no problems. Please, if anyone has any useful advice it would be very helpful to share it with me. Thanks in advance.

  Good thing I checked your previous question on your profile before answering (It would have been helpful if you had included it or a link) I thought it was a problem with getting a Profile image icon, but you actually have a faulty download. File Hippo has several versions of Yahoo Messenger. Messenger 10 has proven glitchy on some computers, especially those with Windows 7, so stick with Messenger 9. Download and SAVE the program directly from there - it seems less problematic than an update or install from Yahoo's site. I suggest saving it to your Desktop so it doesn't get 'lost'. Install it only after completely cleaning the registry of remnants. With Win XP, Yahoo leaves many traces of itself in the registry when an old version is uninstalled (Control Panel > Add/Remove) or a new one fails to install properly - (my uninstall left close to 30 references). The new version will NOT install completely until they are cleaned out. It requires deleting all Yahoo Messenger references from the registry, except your archived messages and profile and contacts lists, perhaps. (Be very careful - you could make a mess in the registry!) Remember to backup the registry or create a new Restore Point first! I've included sources of reputable FREE registry cleaners to assist in that process - it's faster than using "Search for files ...Yahoo! Messenger' and deleting all references one by one. With Win Vista or Win 7, the delete should work well, but check by using 'Search for files' in Programs, and delete any references you find.
