How can I search on a yahoo member's profile name?

How can I view/search a profile who isn't a buddy or IM'd me using Yahoo Msgr 8.1's interface like Msgr 6.0?

  • For example- got an email from an unknown person, who had a yahoo ID as well as name. Because they were neither my buddy nor IM'd me, and I'm using 8.1, I had to go to Yahoo Member Directory (members.yahoo.com). I was unable to find this person's profile using yahoo ID, name or anything else. I turned on the old pc, fired up Yahoo Msg 6.0 and found the profile immediately. Members.yahoo.com does NOT work like the "View Profile" option on Yahoo Msgr 6- (in which you can type any yahoo ID) it only finds people who belong to groups. Nor does Yahoo Msgr 8.1 interface have a "search member directory" option such as Yahoo Msgr. 6.0 does (which works seamlessly) Help! Do I have to install Yahoo Msgr 6.0 on my new pc to be able to find people? Thanks!

    Hey there.. try this.. <insert_yahoo_screen_name>http://profiles.yahoo.com/<insert_yahoo_screen_name> so lets say you're looking for someone called 'ricolasmint' the address would be http://profiles.yahoo.com/ricolasmint It wont work if you search through http://members.yahoo.com but does work through http://profiles.yahoo.com/ Is this kinda what you're after?
