Mine is a weird problem.im presently using windows xp...the thing is when im using voice chat yahoo messenger i cannot hear wat others r speakin but they can hear me clearly,i checked my headphones and they r fine...i dunno wat to do

Might be your speakers Try this: Click start lower left on your desk top, then click control panel then double click sounds and audio devices. Click audio tab ensure your speakers and mic are the default devices do the same with the voice tab. If not change them and click o.k. You can also check your equipment while you are there. Also click actions top line of the messenger window, scroll down and run voice setup.
