Webcam broadcasting problems?

Webcam sound problems...any help?

• I just bought a webcam to talk to my long-distance friends with and I'm having problems with the sound. It's got a built in mic and it's picking up sound perfectly, but when I try to run it through instant messaging, I have to do a video call (rather than 'view webcam' option) to get both sound and video. Is that normal? If so, what's the plain 'webcam' feature on IM for? Plus, I have to wear earphones, since my webcam seems to create interference between it and my speakers, and when I try the video call feature w/o headphones, it screeches and I can't hear a thing. Any tips about this and webcams in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  i have a built in mic webcam too..and i feel you on ur problem :) i dont have any problem with only using the cam (without the voice call). if you have to do video call, while you only need the cam,maybe something is wrong with your YM instalation or you may want to find newer driver for your webcam. for the sound feedback if using speaker,these few things you need to check out : 1. try to check is the mic gain is on ? 2. if the mic gain is off but the feedback still there, might try to lower the mic sensitivity. 3. if 1 & 2 is not working, then you have grounding problem with your PC electricity. 4. maybe your speaker is too close with your mic. as for me,i just turn off the mic gain and set the sensitivity to 50%...and using earphone...and everybody happy :)
